Angela Harris is the Founder and She-EO of Kokopelli Business Services, LLC, the parent company of Kokopelli Marketing and Kokopelli Media. She is an accomplished producer, writer, marketing communications and business professional with experience across media platforms, having worked with corporate and nonprofit organizations globally. She was motivated to see more diversity and inclusion in media. Her eclectic experience includes work in higher education academia, video & audio production, and DEI +Wellness training.Angela has held leadership roles at some of the most iconic global brands to include: Apple Inc., Black Entertainment Television, Inc., Discovery Communications Inc., Public Access Television of Washington, DC, Sirius XM Satellite Radio, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History & Culture where she was instrumental in creating the branding and communications strategy for its opening.
In the field of academia, Angela has developed and taught advertising, business communications, marketing, social justice, and public relations courses at leading Universities to include Howard University, The George Washington University School of Business, and Trinity Washington University where she also served as Chair and Director of the Journalism and Media Studies program. She has taught in both graduate and undergraduate level programs.
As a creative, Angela's work has been peer-reviewed and celebrated by some of the most respected members of the media and advertising industries. In 2022, she was recognized by the Academy of Interactive Visual Arts (AIVA), with four Gold Communicator Award of Excellence, and two Silver Communicator Award of Distinction, for her work as writer, producer and creator in the areas of diversity, equity & inclusion and nonprofit industry support. AIVA is an invitation-only group consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms that recognizes excellence, effectiveness, and innovation across all areas of communication. In 2021, her work was recognized with six Telly Awards, which honors video and television excellence across all screens. She was also awarded two Communicator Awards of Distinction in 2021.
Additional projects and passions include serving as the host and co-producer of the television show Women's Business Report, which spotlights and celebrates the accomplishments of professional women across all industries. Angela also served as the first Head of Business Operations for the Henrietta Lacks Estate where she is instrumental in promotions and public relations during the family's fight for justice. Angela holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications, a Masters of International Management and a MBA degree. She has completed academic study with honors at University of Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Global Campus, and Harvard Business School. In her off-time, she enjoys travel, arts & culture and spending time with her husband, son and family.
